When you boot the VM, a blue screen is briefly visible, but too short to actually read what it says. Have you tried cloning with all defaults?? After successful restore, VM would BSOD. The way I setup my vmware, apart from the usual virtual disk images, was to use a real physical partition for the Windows installation. Thank you ! I used Convertor 5 and cloned that way and it was fine. great tip!
