googled the problem and found varying suggestions for resolution like just restore the pc or make a new account and copy everything over. At least, that is what I've been able to do with previous laptops. Feeling again frustrated, I then thought, how about have a look at just creating a new password on the user accounts. Then I logged off the computer and tried to login using that Administrator account.
