Have to say this SP1 stuff is a real pain. However, they succeed when reattempted, with the exception of the ones I posted before. It can take from 15 minutes to over 2 hours to run, so if it takes a long time, do not worry, it is probably still working. None of this worked for me, but I found the cause and a solution on another forum and I wanted to share it here for those with the same issue. To change/modify their status: Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services. I found this thread where this person seems to know what updates are causing the problem, so you might check yours. Once I switched off this feature, automatic settings remained after restart and I was able to run SP1 update and it worked. To prevent error 800f0826, you need to identify the update that is causing the problem (it will display a different error), fix the problem, and then try installing updates again. 0x80070005 I am getting an error when installing a Windows Update. Error 800f0826 does not identify the update that has caused the problem. Optional Updates are drivers updates.
