I inadvertently hit the "Work Offline" button on the toolbar which needless to say, took me off line. The Microsoft site implied that the File menu to use was part of Windows Live Mail. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. Windows Live Mail Work Offline Won't Uncheck
it says it was unable to locate its message database,click ok to reload the database. And sometimes, fun application too! I found a guide for you on how to do that with Windows Live Mail on Windows 7 here: How to Backup Windows Live Mail 2011You can then recreate your account I assume WLM uses settings in IE.

This was not the first time I've ‘gone off line' but this was by far the easiest and simplest solution. We had a Windows Security alert pop up every time we tried.
It could also be an issue with the client account, so you could try removing your account and recreating it.
