Where did you post the image? I bought a 6TB WD MyBook from Costco and formatted using the tool you suggested. This time instead of formatting the drive and assigning a drive letter in disk management I decide to just use the dashboard process to add a new backup drive.
The message was very cryptic and pretty much just told me it had some unknown problem. WHS 2011 can't backup the server through the Dashboard function if the server contains more than 2TB of data or if the backup target is more than 2TB.
